Holly is the newest member to join the team at Upper Island Counselling. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from City University of New York in Manhattan, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia. Holly has been working as a counsellor since 2007, bringing with her over a decade of experience working with youth, adults and couples.
Holly uses an integrated and collaborative approach to counselling, using a variety of modalities to help clients explore and achieve goals of therapy, believing strongly that, with caring guidance, each individual has the capacity to discover and achieve their best self. Holly has been trained in attachment-based therapy, CBT, DBT, CPT, brief action planning, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques, drawing on any and all of these in her work with clients.
Areas of special interest include recovery from addiction, relationships (both individuals and couples), trauma, and fertility/infertility. Holly has experience treating individuals as well as developing and running groups and workshops covering a wide range of topics including relapse prevention, trauma, emotional regulation, pain management and holistic wellness. Holly also has extensive knowledge about Hepatitis C, and liver health, having offered educational workshops and support groups for those undergoing treatment for Hepatitis C, for over 6 years. Holly is excited to bring her breadth of knowledge to the team at Upper Island Counselling and looks forward to supporting clients in their wellness journey.
